We encourage our students to work with faculty members on projects for conference presentations and/or publications. Below are examples of our students' work:
- Kelly Griffin is co-authoring a chapter with Dr. Chris Sams titled "The Italian Language," for inclusion in M. Ball, D. Crystal, and P. Fletcher's third volume of Profiling Grammar: More Languages of the Language Assessment Remediation and Screening Procedure (LARSP).
- Mark Ervin, Leslie Hill, Kelsey Nixon, Chelsea Sabella, Brody Wedgeworth, and Renee Williams are presenting a poster with Dr. Jessie Sams at the 5th Language Construction Conference in Austin, TX on May 4, 2013. The poster is titled "Leaving Rome Behind: Using the iFontMaker app to create a new writing system."
- Lindsey Antonini co-presented with Dr. Chris Sams at the Southeastern Conference on Linguistics (SECOL) LXXX in Spartanburg, SC, in April 2013. Their talk was titled "The Teaching of Core Linguistic Concepts in an Undergraduate Field Methods Course."
- Nikki Letney co-presented with Dr. Chris Sams at the 69th Annual Conference of the South Central Modern Language Association in San Antonio, TX, in November 2012. Their talk was titled "Students' Perception of Oral Corrective Feedback in the Foreign Language Classroom."
- Lindsey Antonini co-presented with Dr. Jessie Sams at the 5th Annual Formulaic Language Research Network Conference (FLaRN) in Tilburg, the Netherlands, in March 2012. Their talk was titled "Fingerwaggled and Don Corleoned: Quoting verb selection as evidence for formulaic constructions."
- Diana Ariciaga and Cameron Rothluebber presented at the 19th Annual University of Texas at Arlington Student Conference in Linguistics and TESOL in March 2012. Their talk was titled "Acquisition of French Pronominal Forms of Address by Native English Speakers" and was supervised by Dr. Chris Sams.
- Lindsey Antonini, Diana Ariciaga, and Cameron Rothluebber co-presented with Dr. Chris Sams at the 40th Meeting of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest (LASSO) in South Padre Island, TX, in September 2011. Their talk was titled "Acquisition of Spanish Pronominal Forms of Address by Native English Speakers."
