A Message to the Faculty
Greetings from the Faculty Senate! Whether you are a first-year professor or seasoned academic veteran, I welcome you to our homepage and invite you to peruse the Faculty Senate website and see what we can offer you.
Originally created in 1970, the SFA Faculty Senate was established as an effort to embody the full freedom of discussion, participation, and examination of ideas by faculty, students, and administrators in the search for truth. Over four decades later, the Senate continues this quest as we pursue an engaged vision, active leadership, and shared governance of our university.
The SFA Faculty Senate is an elected body that pursues issues of interest to the faculty and works to promote communication and transparency throughout the university. Through the election of senators by college, our collective goal is to advocate for all faculty at every level at SFA. To that end, the Faculty Senate meets once every month during the academic school year. Please visit our meeting dates for more information. All meetings are open to the public, and all faculty are warmly invited to attend.
All senators volunteer to serve on Senate. As fellow faculty members elect senators, the result is that colleagues are also constituents. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact your college senators or myself. All contact information is listed on the Senate roster, or you can send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org. As we have volunteered for this experience, we welcome the chance to serve as your voice at the university. Please allow your senators the privilege to take your thoughts to the Senate and provide them the opportunity to represent you.
All the best,
Faculty Senate Chair, 2013-2014
