If you have already received your financial aid award notification and accepted a student or parent loan on mySFA, your next step is to complete Loans by Web.
Certifying your loan online with TG Loans by Web is easy, straightforward, and takes about 20-30 minutes. To make the process even smoother, you should keep a few things in mind as you begin.
Adobe® Reader®
You will need to download Adobe Reader (if you do not already have it) to view and print the Borrower's Rights and Responsibilities document and your promissory note. (www.adobe.com)
Saving Your Data
If you need to, you can save an unfinished application, then return to complete the process and submit the request for guarantee. Look for the Save and Exit button in the left navigation bar.
Reference Information
Have on hand information for two references, including each person's relationship to you, address, and telephone number.
Borrower's Rights and Responsibilities
Print and read carefully the Borrower's Rights and Responsibilities, which is listed as a link to the left of the Main Menu. The Rights and Responsibilities page spells out important details about taking out a loan, including limits on loan amounts, repayment terms, consequences of defaulting, and interest rate data.
Entrance Counseling
If you're a student and you are a first-time borrower at SFA, you will need to complete online entrance counseling. For your convenience, we have made this part of the Loans by Web process. You will be prompted by a pop-up screen that tells you if you need to complete counseling.
Printing Your Promissory Note/E-signature
First time borrowers or borrowers that have a new lender will have to print, sign, and mail the promissory note to the lender of their choice. For certain lenders, you may have the option of electronically signing a promissory note for your loan. Lenders that accept e-signatures are identified with an asterisk in the list of lenders that appears on Loans by Web. You may need to obtain a Department of Education personal identification number (PIN) to e-sign your loan for such lenders. (Go to www.pin.ed.gov for details.)
