Grants

Grants are gift aid that do not have to be repaid. Eligibility is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FEDERAL GRANTS

Federal Pell Grant - offered to qualified undergraduates who have not earned a bachelor's degree. Amounts range from $200 - $4,310, annually.

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) - offered to qualified undergraduates who are Pell grant eligible.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) first year - offered to recent high school graduates who are receiving the Pell Grant. Students must be full-time, U.S. Citizens and have graduated on a rigorous high school plan. Award is $750 for the academic year.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) second year - offered to full-time college sophomores with 31-60 completed hours and a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and who meet all ACG requirements mentioned above. Award is $1,300 for the academic year.

SMART Grant third year - offered to full-time college juniors who have completed 61-90 hours with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and who are enrolled in certain math and sciences majors. Recipients must be receiving Pell grant and be U.S. Citizens. Award is $4,000 for the academic year.

SMART Grant fourth year - offered to full-time college seniors who have completed 91-120 hours with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and who are enrolled in certain math and sciences majors. Recipients must be receiving the Pell grant and be U.S. Citizens. Award is $4,000 for the academic year.

STATE GRANTS

Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) - a state grant for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need. Awarded to students who are enrolled for at least six hours per semester or more and who are Texas residents.

LEAP/SLEAP - Institutional state grant awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled for at least six hours per semester or more and who are Texas residents.

Texas Grant - A state grant awarded to recent high school graduates who completed a college bound curriculum in high school. Awarded to students with financial need and who enroll for at least nine hours per semester.

INSTITUTIONAL GRANTS

Lumberjack Grant - An institutional grant awarded to both undergraduates and graduates who are Texas residents and enrolled for at least six hours per semester. This grant is created by using institutional funds set aside from tuition and fees and is offered to students with less financial need.
