NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free one-night screening of "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the Ledbetter Gallery of The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
The film, which won accolades at film festivals around the world, including the Audience Award at the BendFilm Festival and Best Documentary Feature at the Nashville Film Festival, is an epic tale of a maverick Midwestern farmer who bravely transforms his farm amidst a failing economy and arson.
Director Taggart Siegel said he "tried to tell a story that unearths the fate of the American farmer and the impact it has on all of us."
The 82-minute film is rated PG -13 and is sponsored by Sandy and Albert Massey.
The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.
