NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Season and single tickets are now on sale for the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre's summer season which includes three plays presented in a modified repertory fashion Wednesday, June 20, through Saturday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. in W.M. Turner Auditorium.
The season will open with Bernard Slade's "Tribute," starring guest artist and SFA alumnus Andy Long playing the role of Scottie Templeton.

"Scottie is a perennial funny man and charmer who is liked by everyone but his son, Jud, who has never forgiven him for botching up in marriage, paternity and career," explained Allen Oster, SFA professor of theatre and the show's director. "When Scottie learns he must face the prospect of dying, he becomes determined to reconcile with his son."
The role, which was originally written for Jack Lemmon to showcase his comedic talents, garnered the actor nominations for a Tony Award as Best Actor and a Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Actor.
"We are fortunate to have Andy returning to the Turner stage to play the part," Oster said.
"Tribute" will run from Wednesday, June 20, through Saturday, June 23. It is recommended for mature audiences.
The following weekend--Friday, June 29, and Saturday, June 30--"Dimly Perceived Threats to the System" will be presented. The adult comedy which explores the modern American family is actually a play about survival, according to director Rick Jones.
"The students are excited about the production because the style of humor is a bit 'strange,' and the playwright has something to say without being too preachy," Jones continued.
The comedy will be presented again on Wednesday, July 11, and Thursday, July 12. It is recommended for mature audiences.
The musical revue, "Tintypes," will be presented four times during the summer season: Friday and Saturday, July 6 and 7, and Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14.
Suitable for the entire family, "Tintypes" is set between the turn of the 20th century and the beginnings of World War I. Its score includes over 40 songs from the era by composers such as George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa and Victor Herbert.
"Through historical figures and period music, the audience can see the similarities between the turns of the 20th and 21st centuries," said Dr. Alan Nielsen, professor of theatre and the show's director.
The season is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and the School of Theatre.
Season tickets, which include one ticket per play, are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Single tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS, or purchase tickets on-line.
