SFA to Present Guest Piano Recital

Pianist David Forbat Pianist David Forbat NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present David Forbat in a guest piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Forbat, assistant professor of piano at the University of Central Oklahoma, will present "the lyrical side of the piano repertoire, including works by Franz Schubert, Frédéric Chopin, Edvard Grieg and Maurice Ravel," said Dr. Andrew Parr, SFA professor of music.

Forbat, who earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, has held teaching appointments at Geneva College (Penn.), William Carey College (Miss.) the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

In addition to teaching applied piano and directing the piano ensemble at the University of Central Oklahoma, he performs as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent vocal and instrumental collaborations include those with cellist Tess Remy-Schumacher, tenor Don Frazure and soprano Leona Mitchell.
