SFA Friends of the Visual Arts to Host Vino Junio

Sylvia Bierschenk - May 28, 2008

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are now on sale for Vino Junio, an evening sponsored by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts that celebrates the Italian vinarelli art tradition where participants create watercolor paintings using wine instead of water to mix color. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St.

The evening was originally planned as the culminating activity for the participants in the SFA Art Educators Retreat III, explained Marsha Blount, SFA assistant professor of art and director of the retreat.

"We've now decided to open it up to the general public, but have space for only 30 additional people," she added.

"Attendees are invited to simply watch the artists work or to pick up a paintbrush and join in," said Marty Prince, president of the Friends of the Visual Arts. "Live jazz music, culinary delights and specialty chocolates by Nancy Andrew will complement the merrymaking."

Tickets are $25 each and must be purchased by Thursday, June 12, either by visiting the SFA Fine Arts Box Office in Room 211B of the Griffith Fine Arts Building or by calling (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
