Sylvia Bierschenk - October 16, 2007

The A Cappella Choir NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The A Cappella Choir of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a varied program of choral literature during its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Sacred pieces included on the program are Alexandre Gretchaninoff's "Holy Radiant Light," a standard in the Russian Orthodox repertoire, and Alessandro Scarlatti's "Est Dies Trophei," a Baroque piece featuring four student soloists.

"The choir will also perform Johannes Brahms' 'Tafellied,' a delightful part song featuring the women's and men's sections in a flirting dialogue," King said.

The choir will close the concert with Alexandru Pascanu's "Suita Scurta," a collection of folksongs based on native Romanian dances.

The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
