Registration open for SFA's Music Discovery Camp, 'Curtain Call'

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Students entering first through sixth grades who wish to learn about musical theatre can register for "Curtain Call," a Music Discovery Camp offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division. Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 4, to Friday, Aug. 8.

Participants will study music, choreography, set design and costumes during the week and perform a musical at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building, explained Jennifer Weems, camp director. Admission to the final performance is free, and participants will receive invitation cards to give to family and friends.

Each day, participants should wear loose fitting clothing appropriate for movement and tennis shoes or shoes with backs, explained Weems. Parents may be asked to provide something for their child's costume.

Cost of the camp is $65, which includes a daily snack. Registration forms are available on the Music Preparatory Division's Web site, http://www.music.sfasu.edu/prep, or in the SFA School of Music Office, located in Room 150 of the Wright Music Building. Registration deadline is Monday, July 28.
