SFA to Present Guest Saxophone Quartet

The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet NACOGDCOHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet in a guest artist recital at 6 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.

The Austin-based quartet is comprised of soprano saxophonist Djamel Mami, alto saxophonist Sunil Gadgil, tenor saxophonist Rami El-Farrah and baritone saxophonist Erik Steighner. All four are pursuing a master's or doctoral degree at the University of Texas.

"The program will be a nice, diverse blend of music and will expose the audience to a number of different musical styles and stylistic periods," said Brian Utley, SFA assistant professor of music. "The quartet will be performing transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach and Domenico Scarlatti, as well as more recent, original saxophone quartet material and an arrangement of a song by Radiohead."
