The Griffith Gallery is located in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, Room 208.
The Art Center @ the Old Opera House is located at 329 E. Main Street. It contains two galleries, one on each floor. All three of these galleries are open 12:30 - 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
All exhibitions, receptions and gallery talks are FREE and open to the public.

SFA FACULTY EXHIBITION Sept. 21 - Nov. 8 Recent works of art in a variety of media will be presented in this annual event by studio faculty of the SFA School of Art. This year's exhibition includes the work of Michelle Rozic, the new assistant professor of foundations/drawing, and Neil Cox, a visiting assistant professor in digital media. THE THREADS OF CULTURE: ANDEAN TEXTILES THROUGH TIME For centuries the resourceful Andean weavers of the lands now generally defined by the borders of present-day Bolivia and Peru have invested their energy and talents in the creation of a wide range of beautiful but functional textiles. The selections in this exhibition--from very old ceremonial textiles to more modern articles for attire--comprise an educational and stunning viewing of this art form. JOHN DANIEL: SCULPTURES & DRAWINGS 1964-2007 Nov. 30 - March 7 This exhibition celebrates 43 years of art-making by John Daniel, SFA professor emeritus of art. During his tenure at SFA, Daniel developed the sculpture and expressive drawing areas, both of which remain important to the mission of the School of Art. Daniel is best known for his work as a sculptor and as a draftsman, and his work is noted for its sensitivity to materials and its comment on the human condition. Opening reception on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. |
SFA GRADUATE STUDENT SHOW The School of Art will celebrate the accomplishments of the current MFA and MA candidates in this exciting exhibition. Recent graduate student work will be presented in a variety of media, including painting, ceramics, photography, prints, metals, sculpture and collage. Opening reception on March 1 at 6 p.m. |
TEXAS NATIONAL 2008 April 5 - May 18 This annual juried competition and exhibition annually attracts entrants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It provides emerging artists an opportunity to have work juried by internationally acclaimed artists and presents new and innovative art to regional audiences. Gallery Talk and winners announced by Shimomura on April 5 at 6 p.m. |
SPECIAL FUND-RAISING EVENT Look for more information about The Exquisite Corpse Box Project at The Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Sept. 21 through 28. Thirty boxes containing limited edition prints by community artists and SFA faculty and graduate students will be sold to raise funds for the School of Art Scholarship Fund. Opening reception on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
