Varsity Club Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics important to the overall success and reputation of SFA?

Athletics is increasingly becoming a window through which the general public sees our university. Local, regional and national media coverage of our athletic program brings an unprecedented amount of attention to SFA. This attention spurs interest from prospective students, professors, coaches and administrators from around Texas and the nation. Through successful athletic programs at the regional and national level, the entire university will take that next step up in recognition.

If I donate to the general university fund, does that apply to my SFA Varsity Club membership and/or go towards athletics?

This is true only if you have designated your university gift(s) or a portion of your gift(s) specifically for athletics.

If I become a member of the SFA Varsity Club, will my donation go to general athletics, or can I direct my gift to a specific area?

The need for general fund dollars is great due to the size and scope of our athletic program. We ask that donors first consider a gift of an unrestricted fund, but also want our members to know that they may direct their gift to any program in our athletic department.

How will my contribution to the Varsity Club help SFA athletics?

By becoming a member in the Varsity Club, you are creating a secure future for SFA's sports programs. Your support will not only enable SFA to recruit the best and the brightest, but also will allow SFA to bring top competition to Nacogdoches. To continue our successful record and garner further national recognition, SFA must rely on your continued donations.

What can I do to help the Varsity Club and SFA athletics?

Your continued financial support and attendance at SFA events are extremely important. To further the cause, however, we must bring more SFA fans into the fold. By recruiting more Varsity Club members and inviting friends and family to games and events, we will be able to reach all of our goals. Strength in numbers!
