Eligibility: You must be a currently enrolled student to access services at the Health Clinic.
Students Under the age of 18
Cost: There is no fee for appointments, general clinic visits, laboratory tests, if requested by one of the clinic’s physicians, injections of patient-furnished allergy vaccines, TB skin testing, minor surgeries, PAP smears, and many other medical services. In addition, a few cost-saving services are provided at a nominal fee (i.e. influenza immunizations, and lab work requested by doctors outside the clinic). See the Services Available for more information on services the clinic does and does not provide. Students may apply for insurance to cover hospitalization, after-hours emergencies, and other medical needs not provided by the University. See the Insurance for more information.
Faculty/Staff of SFA University may receive limited services restricted to: flu shots, blood pressure checks, and weight checks. Because we are totally funded through student fees, faculty and staff are not eligible for routine examination, consultation, testing, or treatment.
Appointments: To minimize patient waiting and assure the student has adequate time to visit with a doctor, appointments are scheduled. Those in need of care that do not have an appointment will be triaged by a nurse and worked into a physician’s schedule if necessary, or treated for minor illnesses according to established approved protocol, or advised to schedule an appointment. For more details on this subject visit the Appointment/ER link.
Parking: Designated patient parking is conveniently located between the south side of the University Health Services Building, and on the north side of the Human Services Building.

Excuses: The Health Service does not issue routine excuses from class, but follows the ruling of the Faculty Senate. If a professor has notified his/her class at the beginning of the semester that a note is required to verify absence due to illness it can obtained at the time of the visit. A note can only be obtained if patient is seen by a physician. The note does not constitute an excuse, which is a decision between the student and the professor.
Medications: Sample prescription and over-the-counter medicines may be offered if available. Other prescription items may be purchased at any local pharmacy. Prices on medicines will vary between pharmacies and students are encouraged to shop around for the best prices.
