Medical History:
Know your medical history. As a patient, you have a right to receive quality health care. You also have a responsibility to be prepared for your medical visit and provide accurate information to your medical provider.
Allergies:
Know your allergies to medications, foods, and other materials, such as latex. Knowing what you are allergic to and what kind of reaction you have had will help your provider prescribe the best medicine for your needs.
Participate:
Ask questions about your diagnosis, treatment plan, and recovery time. We encourage you to discuss your questions or concerns with your medical provider.
Questions:
You do not need health insurance to be seen at the Health Services clinic. But it is helpful to know about your insurance coverage, if you have any, in case referrals or outside tests are needed. If you do not have health insurance and are interested in getting some, Stephen F. Austin State University endorses an optional Student Insurance Plan for eligible students.
Prepare:
Being prepared will help you get what you want out of your visit. This is your time, so use it wisely! You can write your questions down if that will help you remember what you want to ask. Prioritize your questions and concerns so that your provider can focus on what is most important to you.
