Brian W. Bray became the Historic Sites Manager and Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Nacogdoches in November 2003. He previously served as the Director of Education for the Texarkana Museums System for 2 ½ years. He graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 1998 with a BA in Public History with a minor in Cultural and Ethnic Studies, and the University of North Texas in 2000 with a MS in Information and Library Science. He also served in the Army Reserves for 9 years as a Chemical Operations Specialist.
Brian is an active member of Texas Association of Museums and currently serves as co-chair of the Historic Site/House Affinity Group and as the vice-president for the Texas Association of Museums. He works closely with the Texas Historical Commission, is involved with the El Camino Real national historic trail, and is the past-chair of the Texas Forest Trail Region Board of Directors. Brian also serves on the board of directors for the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and Nacogdoches Habitat for Humanity and is an ex-officio member of the Friends of Historic Nacogdoches Inc. and the Nacogdoches County Historical Foundation.
Brian is married to Claire Bray, Social Studies Director for NISD, and they have two wonderful daughters Julia Eleanor and Audrey Walker.
