Program Overview

The Office of High-Impact Practices is over the implementation of "Make and Impact @ SFA," which is our current Quality Enhancement Plan. The focus of this plan is to improve students' higher order thinking skills and student success by incorporating high-impact practices into targeted undergraduate curricula.

Marketing Class teams up with Civil Air Patrol

Dr. Marlene Kahla's MKT 352 (Advertising and Promotions) class teamed up with the local and state Civil Air Patrol to devise a marketing and advertising plan to help promote their new headquarters. Team "Top Gun" and team "Getting Stuff Done" presented their marketing research and strategies in a professional manner to their clients, receiving much positive feedback from this high-impact learning experience.

HMS 414 Commercial II Presentations

Through FLC IV (Field Based Learning), students in the interior design program will be giving their final presentations on the "ultimate classroom." We invite you to come enjoy these presentations that spotlight the high-impact practices that have taken place in this course throughout the semester.

SFA Linguistics Conference

Dr. Jessie Sams is hosting the first SFA Linguistics Conference spotlighting Dr. Paul Frommer, inventor of the language Na'vi for Avatar.

Implementation Project Making a Difference in the Community

Dr. DawnElla Rust was recently recognized in SFA Today for her work being done through the Make an Impact @ SFA initiative. Her implementation project gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world context by providing free health and wellness seminars with the Lighten Up East Texas program.
