    *History majors may not use His 151 or His 152 for these categories. They must use one of the listed alternatives. Exceptions may be granted by the chair in rare circumstances, such as a switch to a history major late in a student’s degree.

  3. History Major Requirements: Complete either section A or B
    A.History Major alone: 30 hours, GPA within major must equal 2.0
      His 151 and 152
      His 210
      Two advanced US history courses:
      Two advanced non-US history courses:
      Three advanced history courses, any area:
      Two of the advanced courses must be 300 level (i.e., not 400 level)
      Four of the advanced history courses must be taken at SFA

    B. History Major with Teacher Certification: 31 hours, GPA within major must equal 2.5
      His 151 and 152 (requires C in each)
      His 210 (requires C)
      His 321 (requires C)
      His 476 (requires B)
      Two advanced US history courses:
      Two advanced non-US history courses:
      Two advanced history courses, any area:
      Two of the advanced courses must be 300 level (i.e., not 400 level)
      Four of the advanced history courses must be taken at SFA
      Minor in Secondary Education, beginning with SED 370, SED 371, and SED 372. (Begin with the prerequisite EPS 380. Contact Secondary Ed for additional details.)

  4. Writing Enhanced: Three courses, at least two of which must be in the History Department

  5. Other
      Completion of a second major or minor with minimum GPA of 2.0 (See secondary advisor.)
      42 hours of coursework must be at SFA
      42 hours of advanced courses (300-level or above), 36 hours of which must be at SFA
      No more than six “W” grades, including transfers
      File for graduation in the registrar’s office at 85 hours
      Total of 120 hours, minimum GPA 2.0 for graduation
      No other registration holds
