Program Activities

Annual Fine Arts Trip

Once a year, usually during the Fall semester, the Honors Program takes a trip to Houston to see a fine arts production. Past performances have included "Cats," "Art," and "The General from America." The program provides round-trip transportation and a meal at Birraporettis; the only cost to the student is that of a discount ticket (usually about $12). It's a fun day for all!

Community Service

The program also devotes itself to giving back to the community. In the past, we have worked closely with the campus Habitat for Humanity chapter in building homes for local families. We also sponsor an Adopt-A-Nursing-Home group that works with local nursing homes to provide entertainment and visits to the elderly. Other service projects have included working closely with local schools for various activities. HSA is always open to any new service opportunities!

Recruiting

In all semesters (including summer), the School takes an active role in recruiting high caliber students to SFA. Our main recruiting time is during Showcase Saturday, a one-day visit program sponsored by the Office of Admissions during the Fall and Spring. We also recruit during Orientation during the summers. HSA officers and dedicated Program members play a vital role in aiding Dr. Tkacik during this process.
