Subject: On-Campus Housing Safety

When terrible events occur such as the incident at Virginia Tech, we need to do everything that we can to keep our campus safe.

On behalf of the Housing Department, I would like to remind our campus residents of important safety measures. I want to encourage campus residents to ensure the safety of your building and community by being aware of your surroundings. You should report any suspicious people or behaviors in your building to our University Police Department at 468-2608 or call 911 in case of emergency. Make sure that our guest policy is being followed by escorting guests in the buildings at all times. Make sure to lock your door. Do not allow someone to “tailgate” in after you, if you enter your housing facility after hours. I encourage you to use basic safety measures at all times.

Please contact a staff member if you have any further concerns.
