Welcome

Welcome to SFA's ResNet web site hosted by the Networking group of SFA's Telecommunications & Networking department. Below you'll find a brief description of some of the resources you'll find available through this web site.

Getting Connected: This link will take you to the ResNet Start Page which contains links to the help guides available to assist you with connecting to SFA's ResNet.

SFANet's ResNet FAQ: We've updated this page's appearance and will soon be updating it's content as well. This document includes Windows 2000 and XP instructions, detailed graphics as well as instructions to resolve some common connectivity problems.

Did you know...: A page of helpful facts pertaining to your residence hall network connection that you may or may not know. There are facts about SFA's Acceptable Use of Information Resources Policy, the current standard defining excessive Internet bandwidth usage, the operating system that seems most susceptible to "hacking," tips on troubleshooting connectivity problems, information on additional network support resources, and much more.

About Network Deactivations: This page contains facts and information regarding the current definition of "excessive Internet bandwidth" usage--the primary cause of network deactivations. Here, too, is information on: some of the causes, suggestions to prevent excessive use, the deactivation/reactivation process, possible penalties for AUP violations and more, including information on system compromises that can result in unintentional or unknown (to the resident) Internet traffic.

SFA's ResNet Support CD: Follow the link to find out more about this helpful ResNet support resource. It contains an interactive troubleshooting guide that will walk you through common techniques for troubleshooting network connectivity and system configuration problems.

SFANet/ResNet Support Forums: If you haven't already, register on the forums and give them a try. Although strictly a volunteer effort, the forums are monitored regularly and any posts should be answered within a reasonable amount of time. If you have questions or information to share, post it on the SFANet/ResNet Support Forums.

Links: A modest collection of web links that you may find helpful.
