Welcome to the SFA Debate Team!
The SFA Debate Team has a prestigious history. The program works to help students hone their public speaking, critical thinking, and rhetorical skills in a public forum. The SFA Debate Team competes at college-level public debate tournaments around the country. Team members have competed in tournaments in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, and here in Texas. SFA Debate is home to four individual national champions and six team national championships in the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) circuit.
Mission
The mission of the SFA Debate Team is to provide an education-based environment for students dedicated to improving their public speaking skills, critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills, as well as social skills through the practice of academic debate. These skills aid students to be successful in their endeavors in the classroom and their careers/workplaces after graduation.
