Lumberjacks get in the game
Whether you want to continue the sport you played in high school, try something new or just stay fit, intramurals are a great way to get in the game and get to know your fellow Lumberjacks.
These student-run and student-organized teams are less formal and competitive than varsity or club teams, so you don’t have to be a star athlete to join. All you have to do is pick a sport and get ready to have some fun! Some sports vary by semester, but there’s always a long list of intramural teams to choose from, and many opportunities for fun.
Intramurals are all about being fun, safe and fair — so the biggest requirement is good sportsmanship. To be eligible, you also have to be a current student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours of undergraduate or graduate classes at SFA.
Ready to play? It’s easy to register.
You can register your team at the Intramural Sports (IMS) Office located in the Rec Center. Individuals can also sign up through the Free Agency Program. Some intramural sports are free, and some cost $30-40 per team. Payment is due at registration.
- One-day tournaments: Register your team at the IMS office or onsite at the tournament. Registration generally closes 15 minutes prior to the event.
- Mid-season and weekend tournaments: Check the individual event announcement for the registration deadline. You can register your team during any Major Team Sport Registration (see below).
- Major/Minor team sports: Send your team captain to register at the IMS desk by date indicated on event flyer. The captain will fill out the registration form, pay the fee and get instructions for adding the rest of your teammates online.
