Lumberjacks Lead. Lumberjacks Care: Becoming an Empowered Bystander

The bystander effect is a well-known psychological phenomenon that inhibits witnesses from getting involved in situations in which a person is in need of help or assistance. This presentation will cover why bystanders hesitate to get involved in such situations, motivational techniques that encourage bystander intervention, and how bystander intervention is considered a best practice in reducing the harm associated with risky behaviors among college students.
