A Nacogdoches native, Amy Roquemore earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from Stephen F. Austin State University and spent the next decade working as a newspaper reporter and columnist at numerous Texas publications, including the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel, Lufkin Daily News, Waco Tribune-Herald, Grand Prairie News and Dallas Morning News.
She then worked as a freelance writer for several years before entering the public relations field as media relations coordinator for the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau. Ms. Roquemore joined the Department of Marketing Communications at SFA in 2007, serving most recently as assistant director for editorial services and editor of the university and alumni magazine Sawdust.
She earned her master's degree in communication from SFA in 2012. Her thesis is titled "Organizational identity and College Student Retention: A Mixed Methods Case Study."
In January 2015, Ms. Roquemore became director of student publications and divisional media at SFA. Her responsibilities include overseeing the student-produced Stone Fort yearbook and The Pine Log newspaper, which she served as editor when she was an undergrad.
She has taught in the Department of Languages, Cultures and Communication and the Department of Mass Communication, including courses in public speaking, media writing and sports writing. She is married to Jeff, and they have two children, Emma and Trevor
