Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Journalism

The major in Journalism consists of 36 semester hours, of which at least 18 must be advanced. Students with a major in Journalism may choose either the BA or the BS. Required courses are:

MCM 101 Communication in Contemporary Society
MCM 103 News Writing I
MCM 200 Basic Digital Photography
MCM 301 Copy Editing
MCM 306 Communication Law
MCM 307 Advertising Techniques & Procedures
MCM 403 Publication Layout & Design

In addition, students take 15 additional hours in a concentration of news writing, photojournalism, advertising or public relations.
