An assistant professor of mass communication Dr. R.E. Davis joined the department in 2013. He earned his bachelors in radio and television from Sam Houston State University, his masters from Stephen F. Austin State University and his doctorate from The University of Oklahoma.
His teaching includes production courses in mass media production, scriptwriting as well as graduate courses. Dr. Davis's research seeks to find ways that social movements create, deploy and utilize media as a means of entering into the public sphere.
He is the founder of a major database on alternative and citizens' media, and has conducted research in Argentina, Spain, France, and Mexico. His research has been presented nationally as well as through international organizations like UNESCO.
