The Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture is a leader in addressing the regional, national and international challenges facing our natural resources. Our students participate in a variety of hands-on, experiential learning activities — including fieldwork, technical training, research opportunities and service learning projects — that enhance their college experience and prepare them for challenging and successful careers.
SFA’s environmental science program was named one of the nation’s top 50 schools for environmental science by environmentalscience.org, an organization that serves as an advocate for environmental science education and careers. The program offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
The Bachelor of Science in Forestry program fulfills the academic requirements for the certified forester credential from the Society of American Foresters. To become certified, students must complete five years of qualifying work experience and successfully pass an examination.
The Bachelor of Science in Spatial Science with an emphasis in surveying satisfies the academic requirements for becoming a registered land surveyor in Texas. After gaining additional work experience, graduates can become licensed land surveyors.
