- For contest guidelines and additional contest information: STUDY ABROAD CONTEST GUIDELINES
- Entry Form, must accompany all submissions: STUDY ABROAD PHOTO CONTEST ENTRY FORM
- PHOTO RELEASE FORM for Professor photo category.
Categories
We will be awarding prizes for pictures in the following categories:
- Portraits (people, animals)
- Landscapes (architecture, natural beauty)
- Cross Cultural Moments (cultural events, interaction with host culture)
Special category for faculty-led programs:
- Your professor: At least half of your good times abroad probably came with your professor in tow. We need to catch these camera-shy folks in action (giving a tour, discussing, hanging out with the group, etc).
Judging Criteria
Photos will be reviewed by a panel consisting of SFASU faculty and staff.
Selection criteria include:
- Technical merit (clarity, focus, lighting, etc.)
- Representation of the study abroad experience
- Sensitivity toward the host culture
- For the cross cultural moments category, photos should show SFASU students "in action" in their host countries and should somehow represent the ideals of study abroad (academic learning, culture learning, international awareness, sensitivity, and fun).
Cash Prizes!
The top 20 photos will be displayed on campus and on the website during International Education Week (IEW)in November. One "1st Place" photo will be awarded in each category. These entrants will receive $100. (Only one prize per entrant will be awarded.) Honorable Mention awards may also be given. The winner of the special category "Your professor" will receive $75. Any cash awards will be automatically credited to the student's SFASU account through the business office.
