Overview of the Process

Prepare to make an informed decision about Study Abroad:

1. Familiarize yourself with the three Study Abroad options open to SFA students and the Study Abroad guidelines by reading over our website. Research your options using printed directories, catalogs, brochures, flyers, videos, internet sites, etc. Ask students who have studied abroad to tell you about their experience but keep in mind that your experience will probably be different from theirs.

2. Make an appointment to meet with your Study Abroad Coordinator to discuss your plans.

3. Discuss your study abroad plans with your academic advisor and determine the credits and courses remaining to complete your degree. After this meeting, you should be able to identify classes which you could take while abroad to meet degree requirements.

4. Review the costs, application deadlines, and other program requirements.

5. Visit the Financial Aid Office and research scholarship options for study abroad.

6. Share your interests and plans with your parents or other family members.
