The Physical Plant Department primary function is to provide the necessary services and support to maintain the University's buildings, grounds, and infrastructure in the best possible condition, thus allowing the faculty and administration to focus on education and the well-being of our students.
The SFA Physical Plant Department is responsible for the administration of all Education and General (E&G) facilitities and associated services, including:
- Building maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting)
- Grounds maintenance
- Custodial services (Cleaning, Recycling)
- Transportation services (Maintenance, rental, shuttles/road buses)
- Street maintenance (Cleaning, paving, sealing, striping)
- Utility distribution and infrastructure (Electric, gas, water, sewer, storm drains)
- Central store operations
- Campus Construction projects (Space renovation, new construction)
- Keys, locks, and door hardware (Locksmith)
- Miscellaneous Signs
All requests for space modification or design are to be submitted using this form including:
Furnishings: furniture or furnishings ONLY (purchases over $300 must go through the SFA Design Center)
Finishes: painting, wall covering, flooring, cabinetry/ millwork or building signage
Structural Remodel: project includes moving or adding, doors, storage areas, etc.
Building System Remodel: project includes changes to, addition or deletion of electrical, HVAC, voice/data, water, other infrastructure, etc.
Space Function Change: project includes changing the use of a space
New Space Request: request to obtain new real estate, building on existing real estate, utilize currently unused space, utilize space that belongs to another department, etc.
Technology: visual display systems, classroom and conference room technology, computer labs, etc.
