Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award (A-16)

The Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) Alumni Association honors an outstanding faculty member at an awards ceremony each fall semester. Nominations are solicited each spring with the deadline for nominations by June 1. Nominations should be submitted on a Distinguished Professor Award Nomination Form available on the SFA Alumni Association web-site (www.sfaalumni.com). A committee made up of the last three recipients reviews the nominations and presents its recommendation for selection to the executive director of alumni affairs for approval. Criteria for the selection of the SFA Alumni Association Distinguished Professorship Award include:
- In general, the faculty member selected should most nearly satisfy the criteria for faculty excellence incorporating teaching, scholarly/creative, and service activities.
- The recipient must be a tenured member of the SFA faculty. Academic administrators holding a position above that of a department chair or director are not eligible.
- The recipient must be an active member of the faculty at the time of the award.
- Scholarship, citizenship, and contribution to academic excellence and to the overall program of SFA must be of such magnitude as to be judged by the selection committee and SFA Alumni Association to cause wide recognition of SFA.
- The recipient must be a member of the Alumni Association by the date of the award.
- Evidence of involvement and support of the Alumni Association must be demonstrated.
