NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present Chad Burrow in a guest clarinet recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The program of 20th century works includes pieces by Luciano Berio, Christopher Deane, Edward Knight, Libby Larsen and Alexina Louie. Joining Burrow in presenting the works will be David Steffens, professor of percussion at Oklahoma City University.
Burrow, an associate professor of music at Oklahoma City University and principal clarinetist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, is the past principal clarinetist with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.
He has been honored at solo and chamber music competitions around the country and was the only American clarinetist invited to participate in the 2003 Munich (Germany) Competition. He has performed as soloist and recitalist throughout the United States, across Germany and in annual tours of Taiwan since 2001.
While on campus, Burrow will present a master class to SFA clarinet students.
