SFA lecture to highlight presidential diversions

The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of History will present the 2008 Maxwell Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Twilight Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center. 

Dr. Paul F. Boller Jr., professor emeritus at Texas Christian University, will discuss his latest book, “Presidential Diversions: Presidents at Play From George Washington to George W. Bush.” 

Boller received his bachelor’s and doctorate degree from Yale University. He served as a Japanese translator for the U.S. Navy from 1942 through 1946 and as a civilian analyst for the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, D.C.  

He began teaching history in 1948 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and also has taught at the University of Texas at Austin, Queens College in New York, the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and Texas Christian University in Forth Worth.
