SFA photographer, writer recognized at annual conference

These two photos by SFA photographer Hardy Meredith recently won awards at the annual conference of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

 

Stephen F. Austin State University’s Office of Public Affairs earned three awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s recent annual conference in Little Rock, Ark.

SFA photographer Hardy Meredith received an Award of Excellence (second place) in the category of candid color photography for his photo “Let’s Dance,” featuring a member of the SFA Repertory Dance Company performing at W.M. Turner Auditorium. He also received an Achievement Award (third place) in the same category for “It’s a Lizard.” That photograph captured a young student at the SFA/NISD Charter School holding up a lizard to the apparent amazement of one of his peers.

Editorial coordinator Amy Roquemore earned an Achievement Award in the category of medical/scientific news writing for her story about ongoing research at SFA’s National Center for Pharmaceutical Crops. The story appeared in the inaugural issue of SFA’s new university magazine, The SFA Vista.
