Amy Roquemore - April 22, 2008

NACOGDOCHES, TX - - Jeff H. Davis was named executive director of alumni affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University by the Board of Regents Tuesday. Davis, a 2002 graduate of SFA, has served as interim director since September.

“Jeff has earned the respect of alumni, friends, university staff, and the local community while he served on the association’s staff and as interim director,” said Dr. Michael Harbordt, president of the SFA Alumni Association.

“He will bring an enthusiasm to the job which, when combined with his natural leadership ability and genuine concern for people, will grow the association’s services. For Jeff, this is a lifestyle commitment – not just a job.”

Davis first joined alumni affairs as director of development in February 2006. In that role, he supervised alumni fundraising, scholarships and membership solicitations.

The six-foot-nine Clear Lake native was a walk-on player for the Lumberjack basketball team during the 1998-99 season. He was president of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Interfraternity Council.

Davis earned a bachelor of business administration degree from SFA in 2002 and a master of business administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005.

“My wife, Jenny, and I are thrilled with the news and hope to be at SFA for many years to come,” Davis said following the announcement. “I feel truly honored to be able to serve in this position, and I am blessed to work with an incredible staff each day and interact with graduates of this fine University.”

Davis was one of 29 applicants for the position formerly held by Jim Jeter, who resigned last fall.
