SFA names executive director of development

Shirley Luna - April 22, 2008

Jill Still of Nacogdoches has been named executive director of development at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Still graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1987 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University. She joined SFA’s development office in 1994 and received a Master of Business Administration from SFA in 2000. She recently earned designation as a certified fundraising executive by Certified Fund Raising Executive International.

“When I initially joined the development office, I coordinated and managed any special fundraising events, such as the Gala and Hoops for Scholars, in addition to managing all aspects of the Parents Fund campaign,” Still said.

Still was promoted to assistant director of development in 1996 and associate director of development in 1997.

“I took on the additional responsibility of the telemarketing operation of the Annual Fund campaign and advising the Student Foundation,” Still said. “When I was named associate director, I began coordinating the entire Annual Fund campaign, administering the alumni and donor database, managing gift processing, and supervising the general day-to-day accounting operations of the office.”

Still’s responsibilities expanded further when she was named director of development in 2002. “At that point, I was involved in both the hands-on fundraising efforts of the office, as well as assisting with strategic planning for our efforts,” Still explained. “A few of my additional responsibilities involved our capital campaign efforts and managing the business affairs of the SFASU Foundation.”

Still said she is honored to be given the opportunity to lead SFA’s Office of Development.

“I look forward to working with not only our capable staff, but also our administrative and academic leaders, the SFASU Foundation Board of Trustees and all our benefactors to take our development efforts to a whole new level,” she said. “I can honestly say that I truly enjoy coming to work each day due to the incredible opportunity to work with many SFA alumni, friends and volunteers whose generous ways inspire and motivate me.”

Still serves on the board of directors of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and the Mast Arboretum and Pineywoods Native Plant Center board of advisers. She is a member of the Nacogdoches Heritage Heralds and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
