The Trombone Choir of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in Cole Concert Hall.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University Trombone Choir will present its end-of-the-semester concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
Included on the program are several student quartets and arrangements of familiar pieces such as "Mr. Sandman," Samuel Barber's "Adagio" and J.S. Bach's "Fugue in G Minor," said Deb Scott, SFA assistant professor of music and the choir's director.
Dr. A.C. "Buddy" Himes, dean of the SFA College of Fine Arts and member of the choir, will guest conduct his arrangement of "Tu Solus Qui Facis Mirabilia (Thou Alone Who Doest Wonders)" by Josquin Des Pres.
Chris Eaton, Mesquite graduate student, will guest conduct Jan Koetsier's "Concerto Grosso," a piece which features five trombones, two alto (or smaller) trombones and one contra bass trombone (a very large trombone with a double slide), explained Scott.
The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Cole Concert Hall is located at 2210 Alumni Dr.
