Two other pieces on the program, "CRUSH for Flute and Marimba" by James Barry and "3NF" by Guenther's husband Alan Scott, were commissioned and premiered by Guenther and percussionist Dan Davis for the Florida Flute Fair in January 2006.
Guenther and Harris will close the program with Gareth Farr's "Kembang Suling." The piece, subtitled "Three Musical Snapshots of Asia," is a chamber work for flute and marimba based on rhythms and melodies from Bali, Japan and South India.
The recital is a preview of the program Guenther and Harris will give at the national conference of the College Music Society the following week in San Antonio.
