NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The associate vice president of alumni affairs for Stephen F. Austin State University, James Jeter, today submitted his resignation, effective immediately, and he will be on paid administrative leave through Oct. 31.
“I am thankful for the two and half years of service that Mr. Jeter has given SFA, and I wish him well in his future endeavors,” SFA President Dr. Baker Pattillo said.
Jeter joined SFA in January 2005. Previously he served as associate executive director of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students where he was responsible for alumni programs, fund raising and special events.
The position of associate vice president of alumni affairs reports to the Office of the President, as well as to the boards of the Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association and the Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Foundation. Both groups are 501c(3) non-profit organizations that conduct work on behalf of SFA alumni. All the Alumni Association staff members also are university employees.
President Pattillo will work in cooperation with the Alumni Association Board to appoint a committee that will conduct a national search for a new Alumni Association leader. He also will be working with the board to identify interim leadership in the coming days until a permanent head of the Alumni Association is hired.
“We will work jointly to identify the best possible individual to nurture and strengthen relations with SFA alumni through the Association,” Pattillo said.
