The SFA Music Preparatory Division recitals scheduled

NACOGDCOHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a series of recitals during the month of December. The recitals, which provide an opportunity to showcase the talents and accomplishments of the students enrolled in the various programs, are free and open to the public.

Piano students of Dr. Ping-Ting Lan will present their recital at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building.

At 6 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 11, harp students of Mollie Marcuson, flute students of Michelle Sellers and Jennifer Wilson's horn student will perform in the Music Recital Hall.

Piano students of India Aquino, Kelly Carstens and Emily Lawlace will play their recital pieces at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the Music Recital Hall.

On Thursday, Dec. 14, the Piney Woods Youth Orchestra will present its end-of-the-semester concert at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall, located in the Wright Music Building. The orchestra is under the direction of Drs. Evgeni Raychev and Jennifer Dalmas, faculty members of the SFA School of Music.

Three different recitals are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16. Half of Brenda Josephsen's Suzuki violin students will perform at 11 a.m. in the
Music Recital Hall, and the other half will perform at 1 p.m. in the same venue. At 3 p.m., piano students of Linda Parr will present a recital in
the Cole Concert Hall.

On Sunday, Dec. 17, Mary Cooper's piano students will play their recital pieces at 2 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall; the Live Wire Choir, Lyric Choir and Junior Chorale will present their end-of-the-semester concert at 2:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall; and violin and cello students of Dalmas, Raychev and Megan McIntire will perform at 6 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

Vocal students of Dr. Deborah Dalton, Nita Hudson and Kimberly LaGraff will present their recital at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in the Music Recital Hall.

The Music Preparatory Division has been offering musicianship classes and private instruction for East Texas students for over 25 years. It is an associate member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
