Lufkin city manager speaks at SFA

Shirley Luna - December 4, 2006

Lufkin city manager Paul L. Parker was a guest speaker recently for the Certified Public Manager Program at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Parker discussed communication as being a key to survival in political environments. SFA's nationally accredited program provides training for public and nonprofit managers in ethical values, technical competencies, and leadership skills associated with public service.

The next session begins Jan. 5, and each session includes seminars, networking, field-based applications, and readings designed to enhance abilities participants need to deal with "real world" situations and opportunities.

Pictured are, from left, Dr. Richard Herzog, SFA political science professor; Parker; Robert Turner, Tyler city manager; and Dr. Marlin Young, SFA provost and vice president for academic affairs.
