NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are now being accepted for an art tour of Paris Sunday, June 3, through Sunday, June 10, sponsored by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art.
Although a suggested itinerary will be provided, participants will have the freedom to set their own pace and schedule visits to such sites as The Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, the Pompidou Center, Musée Rodin, Musée de Cluny (which houses the Unicorn Tapestries), the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Saint Chapelle, Notre Dame and the UNICEF Headquarters.
"Of course, in the City of Lights during the summer months, sipping a
refreshing drink at a sidewalk café, observing the street life, browsing
shops and flea markets or simply strolling through the city parks is as
important and rewarding as visiting major museums and churches," said Linda
Mock, tour coordinator.
One of the highlights of the tour will be the opportunity to attend the opening reception of an exhibition of works by SFA professor Charles Jones and his wife Corinne Jones, art instructor at Angelina College, at the American University on June 7.
Participants will stay in the Holiday Inn Paris St. Germain, located near Montparnasse.
"The charming hotel is less than a block from the metro station and just a few blocks from Luxembourg Gardens," Mock said. "Plus, there's a great shopping district only one street away!"
Registration is $1850 per person and includes a roundtrip bus ride from SFA to George Bush Intercontinental Airport, roundtrip airfare to Paris from Houston, transfer from and to the Paris Airport, six nights lodging in a double occupancy room and a daily buffet breakfast.
Participants will be responsible for local transportation in Paris, museum fees, meals and miscellaneous personal expenses.
Registration is limited to the first 40 travelers, and the sign-up deadline
is Saturday, Dec. 30. To reserve a space, contact Mock at
mockdolan@gmail.com or by calling (936) 569-6346.
The first payment of $925 will be due Monday, Jan. 15, with the balance of $925 due on Thursday, March 1. Payments can be made by check, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
