The SFA Music Preparatory Division recitals scheduled

NACOGDCOHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a series of recitals during the month of December. The recitals, which provide an opportunity to showcase the talents and accomplishments of the students enrolled in the various programs, are free and open to the public.

The Live Wire and Lyric Choirs, directed by Jennifer Weems, will present their recital at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building.

On Sunday, Dec. 9, students of Jennifer Kirby, flute; Ashley Wilson, clarinet; Weston Fisher, horn; and Michael Raney, trumpet; will join piano students of India Aquino, Kelly Carstens and Emily Lawlace in a 4 p.m. recital in the Music Recital Hall.

Also on Dec. 9, the Pineywoods Youth Orcehstra will perform at 6 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall. The orchestra is directed by Drs. Evgeni Raychev and Jennifer Dalmas.

Voice students of Dr. Deborah Dalton, Nita Hudson, Kimberly LaGraff and Dr. Scott LaGraff will present their recital at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, in the Music Recital Hall.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, Raychev's cello students, Dalmas' violin students and Alan Scott's classical guitar students will perform at 7 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

Three different recitals are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15. Brenda Josephsen's Suzuki violin students will perform at 11 a.m. in Cole Concert Hall. Dr. Ping-Ting Lan's piano students will present their recital at 2 p.m. in the same venue, and Linda Parr's piano students will perform at 2 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

Piano students of Mary Cooper will present their recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in Cole Concert Hall.

The Music Preparatory Division has been offering musicianship classes and private instruction for East Texas students for 27 years. It is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
