Dr. R. Scott Beasley, dean of the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University, (third from right) accepts an initial gift of $60,000 from the Simon and Louise Henderson Foundation establishing the new Simon and Louise Henderson Wildlife Research Institute at SFA. The institute will allow both undergraduate and graduate students to conduct wildlife research on private timberlands in East Texas. Research emphases are likely to include turkey, quail and whitetail deer habitats, songbird communities and the impact of various private land management practices on wildlife.
