John Lepiarz (left), better known as Mr. Fish, and Trent (Arterberry) the Mime use circus skills to demonstrate scientific principles during "Super Scientific Circus," a show that will be presented by Stephen F. Austin State University's Children's Performing Arts Series at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, in W. M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.

Circus skills will be used to introduce scientific principles to East Texas students during "Super Scientific Circus," a presentation of the Stephen F. Austin State University's Children's Performing Arts Series, at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, in W. M. Turner Auditorium.

John Lepiarz, better known as Mr. Fish, and Trent (Arterberry) the Mime use eggs, boomerangs, bubbles, a bucket of water, beach balls, leaf blowers, whips and a stack of glassware to demonstrate flight, aerodynamics, friction, the sound barrier, inertia and centrifugal force.

The show is targeted for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. "The duo has been a part of our series several times, and we are bringing them back by popular demand," said Diane Flynn, director of the Children's Performing Arts Series. "The combination of education and entertainment makes the show appealing to all ages, regardless of one's scientific knowledge."

Super Scientific Circus has performed in venues around the world, including Taipei National Theatre in Taiwan, Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, the University of Hawaii, Detroit Youth Theatre and the Hong Kong International Children's Festival.

Lepiarz spent seven years as featured clown with the Big Apple Circus in New York. He has appeared on HBO and ABC's "Great Circus Performances of the World." He was awarded first place in clowning at the International Circus Festival in Sarasota, Fla.

Arterberry has toured across North America and Europe and has appeared as a star attraction on the SS Norway. He has performed with symphony orchestras and opened for Julio Iglesias, B. B. King and the Kinks. He starred in the Christmas Revels in New York and was named Performing Artist of the Year by the National Association of Campus Activities.

The event is co-presented by the SFA College of Fine Arts and is sponsored in part by FrameSaver of Nacogdoches.

Tickets are $6 for individuals and $5 each for groups of 20 or more. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
