Stephen F. Austin State University human sciences students recently met at the home of Dr. David Lewis to plan the "Art in the Home" event to be offered by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts on Saturday, March 4. The event is open to donors who have contributed $100 or more to the School of Art in 2006.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University will host an appreciation event Saturday, March 4, in the home of Dr. David Lewis, director of the SFA School of Art and professor of art history.
"Art in the Home" is offered as a "thank you" to donors who have contributed at least $100 to the 2006 Friends of the Arts-Art campaign or to the 2006 SFA Gallery Fund, which is being used toward the current renovation of The Art Center at the Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St.
Ster Dubberly, Friends of the Visual Arts Board events chairperson, said the participants will see Lewis' superb art collection as well as how the art is displayed. "Dr. Lewis' unique contemporary, home designed by local architect Jerry Sutton, provides a warm, aesthetic backdrop to the collection that brings together his travels, education and love of art," Dubberly continued.
"Art in the Home" is the first in a series of artists' home and studio visits to be held throughout the year for contributors to the School of Art.
