NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Sam Houston State University Faculty Chamber Players in a guest recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Music Recital Hall of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
SHSU faculty members Kathy Daniel, flute; Patricia Card, clarinet; Mary Kay Lake, soprano; John Lane, marimba; and Ilonka Rus, piano, will perform a variety of musical selections.
Included on the program are Katherine Hoover's "Kokopeli," a work that portrays the Hopi Indian legend about the flute playing prankster, and Jules Mouquet's "La Flute de Pan," a lovely French piece depicting some stories of the well-known mythical flutist Pan, explained Christina Guenther, SFA assistant professor of flute.
"The audience will also enjoy Gary Shocker's 'Airheads' with its interchange between flute and clarinet," Guenther continued.
While on campus, Daniel and Lane will present master classes to SFA flute and percussion students, respectively.
