NACOGDCOHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet in a guest artist recital at 6 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
The Austin-based quartet is comprised of soprano saxophonist Djamel Mami, alto saxophonist Sunil Gadgil, tenor saxophonist Rami El-Farrah and baritone saxophonist Erik Steighner. All four are pursuing a master's or doctoral degree at the University of Texas.
"The program will be a nice, diverse blend of music and will expose the audience to a number of different musical styles and stylistic periods," said Brian Utley, SFA assistant professor o music. "The quartet will be performing transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach and Domenico Scarlatti, as well as more recent, original saxophone quartet material and an arrangement of a song by Radiohead."
