Three ribbon cuttings and a ground-breaking ceremony will precede the January meeting of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently constructed tennis courts on the corner of Wilson Drive and East Starr Avenue will begin the festivities at 11:30 a.m Wednesday, Jan. 18. Immediately following the ceremony, regents will break ground for a 78,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center, which will include a large cardio-fitness area, weight room, an elevated walking and jogging track, an aquatics area for recreational and lap swimming, basketball and volleyball courts and a climbing rock.
Ceremonies will continue at noon with a ribbon cutting at the new Lumberjack Lodge and the Aikman Drive Parking Garage.
Regents committee meetings to be held include a 4 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17, of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee. On Wednesday, the Building and Grounds Committee meets at 8 a.m., followed by the Finance Committee at 10 a.m. The Marketing Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m.
The regents will meet in executive session at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and in an open session at 9 a.m. Thursday.
